You are invited to submit an abstract before January 10th 2019 for the INTAROS organised session entitled “Evaluation, exploitation and enhancement of Arctic observing systems across disciplines” (session G13.7) at the next General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) which will take place in Vienna, Austria, from 7–12 April 2019.
This session aims at bringing together multidisciplinary studies that address the current state of Arctic observing systems, including strategies to improve them in the future. We invite contributions covering atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere and terrestrial spheres, or combinations thereof, by use of remote sensing, in situ observation technologies, and modelling. This session will be supported by the EU-H2020 project INTAROS, and welcomes contributions from other pan-Arctic networks (e.g. FRAM, INTERACT, GTN-P, NEON, ICOS, SIOS, IASOA, AOOS), multi-disciplinary programmes (e.g. ABoVE, NGEE Arctic, Arctic Ocean 2018, YOPP, MOSAIC, Legacy of Nansen) or databases.
Session Conveners: R. Pirazzini (FMI, Finland), M. Göckede (MPG, Germany), A. Beszczynska-Möller (IOPAN, Poland), A. Ahlstrøm (GEUS, Denmark), S. Sandven (NERSC, Norway).
Ph.D. and Master Students and Early Career Scientists (ECS) (PhD <5 years) are particularly encouraged to submit abstracts to our session: INTAROS is offering two grants of €1000 each for the best Student or ECS submitting an abstract. The applicants should send their CV, the official receipt of their abstract and a 1-page motivation letter summarizing the reasons for attending the meeting and how it can benefit their careers to Donatella Zona (d.zona@sheffield.ac.uk). The two applications, including abstracts, deemed to be the best will be awarded the grant. Applications should be received on or before January 10th 2019. The Abstract Processing Charge of applicants will not be covered by INTAROS.
The grant recipients will have to pay the costs of conference registration, travel, accommodation etc. in the first instance. They will then be reimbursed by the INTAROS project after the conference on presentation of a completed travel claim.
Abstract deadline: 10 January 2019, 13:00 CET.
